Heavenly Grace Ranch Had a great ride on Miss Yente this morning! No reins needed!!!! She rode beautifully with all head turns and leg. Such GREAT TRAINING received by Starfire Gypsy Horses over a year and a half ago, and Yente still remembers all her butter soft cues like it was yesterday... I pulled her out of pasture, and she was flawless!!!!! NOW THAT SAYS SOMETHING about the amazing work performed by Samantha VanSickle and the dedication she puts in to each and every one of her training horses. I have never invested my money in a better place, than the investments I made choosing StarFireGypsy to take on training of my precious Gypsy Vanners. Thank you Starfire, for improving the quality of our riding future. I felt safe as could be riding today. 😊 If you are serious about achieving that DREAM LEVEL of riding for you and your horses, I absolutely recommend StarFire Training for ALL your horseback riding needs!!!!
Jeanne Saddler, Manhattan KS We have never met but I want to convey my eternal gratitude for the work you have done. I purchase "Hank" form Wyleen May a couple of years ago. A 4-year-old was a few years younger than I had been looking for but I guess we were meant to be together. I re-named him SD Romany Treasure and he lives up to his mane. Thank you CJ for giving him such a great foundation! Clearly you have cultivated in him a trust of his rider and the idea that when his rider's butt hits the saddle, "Yes Mam or Sir" is the proper mind-set. I have been practicing Applied Behavior Analysis on animals for many years and can clearly see that the early work you did with Treasure has set him up to be a successful partner, ready to go any direction we choose to explore. At one time along the way he had learned to pull back from the hitch rail at so our first lesson was "Keep your chest against the tie rail" With maturity has come more patience and staying at the rail, even when there are more interesting activities beckoning him, is easier for him. These days we are continuing our Dressage lessons, we have started over very small, easy to step over jumps, and he loves to play on the trail obstacles like gates and bridges. So, Thank you. The training you did with my boy has helped him become the wonderful partner he is today.
Bella Vista Gypsy Horses We want to take a minute to express our appreciation and gratitude to the StarFire Gypsy Horses team! We have entrusted our precious young stallion "Coates Guaranteed Gold" to them since last October, for training and breeding season, and we could not be happier with the quality of service provided! They are outstanding in every way! Kind, professional, knowledgeable and honest! We know our Golden boy is not only trained and cared for, but also loved! In addition to being his trainer, Samantha VanSickle also manages all Gold's breeding commitments, including collection and shipping orders! Sam not only executes her duties efficiently and with grace, but she also goes above and beyond to ensure our valued clients are taken care of! If you are looking for trustworthy, skillful training and care for your horses, look no further! Choose StarFire, they've got you covered!
Edoras Stables Gypsy Horses I would like to give a shout out to Samantha Vansickle and the team at Starfire Gypsy. After a very stressful breeding season thus far, their team has been extremely easy to deal with, and very professional when it comes to shipping semen to outside mares. As someone who has experience on both sides of things (I am a mare owner who breeds via A.I. on occasion, and a stallion owner who collects and ships to outside mares), I understand how these things are supposed to work, and also how messed up things can become if things aren't handled properly. Samantha and the team at Starfire have been nothing but pleasant and kind to do business with, and have added zero stress to this crazy breeding season. And for that, I want to give them a great big THANK YOU!!!! I highly recommend them to anyone considering using one of the stallions that they stand at their facility!
Cedar Creek Gypsy Horses "When I started Cedar Creek Gypsy Horses I was so overwhelmed. I had a vision and knew what I wanted but the road on how to get there was unclear. I asked around about trainers and the name that kept coming up every time was Starfire Gypsy . " you will love Samantha and CJ" everyone promised. So I gave them a call and and everyone was right. My two stallions and business would not be where they today without these two amazing people helping to guide us. You are not just getting wonderful trainers, you are getting experience and advice. I will never have my horses with anyone else. My two boys couldn't be in better hands! ~ Amy Weiland, Owner"
4C's Gypsy Horses "Recently we had the pleasure of having CJ VanSickle work with a couple of our Gypsy Horses. We have seen such a tremendous difference in both of them. What a great opportunity this was to watch CJ as he transformed these horses into confident, collected animals. He also worked with my granddaughter and me, and he has a natural ability to increase your confidence while instruction. This was a great experience and I look forward to having CJ work with some of our upcoming youngsters and a couple that need a little refresher. I wish we lived closer to CJ so that we could continue working with him on a more consistent basis. I will most definitely recommend CJ and Samantha VanSickle to anyone I know who is looking for a good solid trainer for their Gypsy Horses. ~ Brenda Hearon, Owner"
Canter Round Stables "I just wanted to share a quick and much deserving thanks to both Samantha and CJ with Starfire Gypsy for starting our beautiful gypsy girl Amelia. She was in training 90 days, and with bringing her home and riding her for the first time, we were beyond impressed and thrilled! Amelia is a rock steady, and safe riding horse already! Second day back home we decided to ride through our "urban" trails and went over the freeway on the overpass, past homes, a middle school, and went through the Von's and Starbucks parking lot to enjoy breakfast at a little place in the middle of nothing but city. Amelia was a champ! Over a freeway, she didn't blink at all the cars, the fire truck, semis going under the overpass, by all the construction cones or screaming children. She was a rockstar!! I can't say enough about the VanSickle team! I HIGHLY advise you send your horses to them for a tune-up, showing or starting young ones like Amelia. ~ Canter Round Stables, Owner"
White Feather Ranch "I met CJ and Samantha VanSickle at the 2013 Gypsy World show held in Ft Worth, Texas. They were showing the most beautiful gypsy stallions for Aunique Ranch. I watched them and how they handled these beautiful stallions. The horses were so calm and so were CJ and Samantha. They won almost every class they went into, but what was more impressive was behind the scenes, how gentle they were with these horses and the professional attention to detail they took in getting them ready. I had just purchased my first Gypsy Filly two months earlier. I went up to CJ and Samantha to speak to them and find out more about them. I was amazed how easy they were to talk to. CJ let me know that he had a new project he was working on called The Gypsy Cowboy. His plan was to go to different ranches across the country and offer training and instruction to people and their horses helping them to connect and build stronger working relationships. A portion of the proceeds from this program would also be being donated to the Wounded Warriors Program as well as an Equine Outreach program that CJ and Samantha are developing in their hometown. I gave CJ my contact information and told him I would like to be included when he had the time. A few weeks later I got a call from him and he was setting up his schedule. I had two horses I had CJ work on when he arrived at my house. The first was my AQHA World Sorting Open Champion. Dixie had just had her baby two months earlier and she needed to get back into shape. Also Dixie was so use to being ridden at balls to the walls speed she needed to learn to just be able to ride and enjoy being a horse now that her sorting competing is for the most part over. CJ rode Dixie and just did wonders for her. She quickly and gently got back into shape and learned a calmness that I don't think she has ever known before. CJ also worked with her new colt Ducky. Ducky is bred from two high spirited champions and has energy and athletic ability to boot from both parents. Needless to say Ducky was a bit of a handful. Ducky got lessons in patience as Dixie got better in shape. He learned how to be ponied and groomed and handled. I also had CJ work on ISIS our first gypsy. ISIS is as sweet any gypsy but had a few issues; she didn't like her ears to be touched. CJ, so gently worked her through this issue that in a day or so she would let anyone touch her ears inside and out. He also started to work her on the long line for us since one of the things we will do with her is break her to drive a cart when she is old enough. His lessons were not long but ISIS so loved CJ she picked up so much in a short period of time. He also worked with her in learning how to stand for halter classes since we hope to compete with her soon. In addition to training ISIS, he trained Andy, my husband, Kody my son and me as well. That was probably more of a chore than working with our horses. In a few short lessons we all were riding so much better. What I find so great about CJ is he speaks in a language anyone can understand. He watched us ride and gave us simple ways to improve our riding. About a week or so into his visit with us we added Kody’s and Andy’s quarter horses to the training schedule. Andy’s horse Snoopy also is a sorting horse whose engine doesn’t know how to slow down and we wanted to turn him into more of a relaxed trail horse. CJ took us all back to the basics and in a short time had Snoopy relaxed and enjoying just being a horse. CJ reviewed our tack and bits and showed us how to get the best use out of each piece of tack. We have good saddles and tack but we didn’t always understand the proper use. He took the time to explain what and why and it all made such simple sense. In the short time CJ was staying with us, about 5 weeks, my horses and my family learned more than when I have had trainers work on my horses for months. They were never stressed, nor over worked. They thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with CJ whether it was under saddle or on the ground. On a personal note, we found CJ to be one of the best people we have met. He is down to earth and easy to talk to, direct with his training and advise and has built a level of confidence in both my horses and myself and family. ~ Nancy Hubbard, Owner"
